In December I was lucky enough to acquire an Hp TouchPad for $99 during the massive fire sale that Hewlard Packard had as they exited the tablet market. After the first couple of days (when the device still held it’s novelty), I have to admit that the tablet saw an exponential decrease in usage. While WebOS was hands down one of the best mobile operating systems on the market (i.e. Multitasking features), the lack of applications in the marketplace (especially applications designed for a tablet) coupled with some performance issues (web browsing felt choppy) really took away from the overall experience. The lack of Evernote, or really any productivity applications gave me no incentive to carry around a tablet along with my laptop and smartphone. In turn, the touchpad served the mundane task of being my alarm clock for several months (talk about wasted potential) in addition to a device where I occasionally checked my mail.
